The protection of personal data is not the same in all countries. To ensure an adequate level of protection, special safeguards need to be in place when personal data is transferred to countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). This is for example the case when a processor (such as a cloud provider or a call-center) is located outside the EEA or when personal data is being transferred within different entities of your international organization where some of the entities are located outside the EEA. New challenges arise from developments such as The Schrems-II Judgement.
